FIST OF LEGEND (1994).

Starring Jet Li, Yasuaki Kurata, Billy Chow, Chin Siu-ho. Directed by Gordon Chan. Action direction by Yuen Woo-ping.

Jet Li plays Chen Zhen, the hero made famous by Bruce Lee in FIST OF FURY, who avenges the death of his teacher despite the opposition of the Japanese military. (Special thanks to Bey Logan, Vice-president of Asian Acquisitions and Co-production at The Weinstein Company, for permitting the screening of the Dragon Dynasty DVD Fist of Legend.)

Friday’s film will be preceded by a martial arts demonstration class from approximately 6:30 PM – 7:30PM by the Wah Lum Kung Fu Athletic Association. Quattrini titled: FIVE MINUTES FLAT at approximately 7:30 PM.

Starring Jackie Chan, Yuen Siu-tin, Hwang Jang Lee. Directed by Yuen Woo-ping. Choreography by Yuen Woo-ping.

Jackie plays a trouble-prone teenaged version of the martial hero Wong Fei-hung, but he meets his match in the Drunken Master (played by director Yuen Woo-ping’s father). This is one of the best kung fu movies ever made. Learn more about Drunken Master from Films at the Gate Curator, Jean Lukitsh

Saturday’s film will be shown at the Chinatown Park, just on the other side of the Chinatown Gate from our usual location. We’re grateful to the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway Conservancy for working with us to make this possible. The film will be preceded by a Tai Chi and martial arts demonstration class from approximately 6:30 PM – 7:30PM by Bow Sim Mark Tai Chi Arts Association and Rick Wong’s Chinese Martial Arts Center. All movies have Chinese language audio and English subtitles. If subtitles are unavailable, bilingual summaries will be provided.

On the Lot

Folding chairs are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Feel free to bring your own seating. Nearest public restrooms are in South Station, a short walk from the site. Take out food is welcome at the movies—please help us support local businesses. (Open alcoholic beverages and smoking not permitted.)

Getting Here

Movies are shown on the vacant paved lot on Hudson Street between Beach and Kneeland Streets, just south of the historic Chinatown Gate. (See the vacant lot on everyscape.com or view Google map)

By MBTA:

  • Orange Line to Chinatown Station.
  • Red Line to Downtown Crossing or South Station.
  • Green Line to Boylston Street

By Car:

  • Take I-93 or the Mass. Pike to the South Station exit.

Parking available at nearby lots in Chinatown, including the Beach Street Garage. Additional parking at the South Station Bus Terminal.
